  10. Summer Evaluation Skating Dates:
    1. Freshman & Sophomore skates June 5th and 6th 6-7:30pm
    2. Junior & Senior skates June 5th 7:30-9pm
    3. Skates are at OLSM
    4. Skates are used to determine where to place you for the Summer program.
  11. Summer Teams and Programs
    1. After evaluations, Players placed on one of 3 Teams for the Summer
    2. Varsity Red
    3. Varsity White
    4. JV Red
    5. Placements are not permanent and players can be moved during the Fall season as the coaching staff feels necessary
    6. All 3 Teams will play in the GLSHL
    7. Teams in the GLSHL will play 8 Games from Mid-June to Aug 1st
    8. 1 Team of Varsity Players will be selected to play a tournament in Traverse City- June 21st – 23rd.
    9. 2 Teams of Varsity Players will be selected to play in a Tournament in Burton – July 12th -14th
    10. 1 or 2 off- ice sessions per week for all teams during the Summer – run by James Gonzales – Strength Coach
  12. Summer High Endurance Camp: http://www.highendurancehockey.org
    1. June 17th-Aug 9th
    2. 8am-10:30am Mon – Thur. No camp July 4th week
    3. Limited skating first week because of Testing
    4. Camp is in addition and separate of the GLSHL Program
    5. Register for the camp on the Orchardlakecamps.com site under High Endurance.
  13. Fall Teams and Programs
    1. Players will be placed on 1 of 3 teams for the Fall
    2. Varsity
    3. JV Red
    4. JV White
    5. Placements are not permanent and players can be moved during the Fall season as the coaching staff feels necessary
    6. Varsity will play games at Cranbrook from September thru October (12 Games)
    7. JV Teams will play 10-12 Games from September thru October.
    8. Fall Select Programs – MDHL and Top 80 (These are 2 Separate program that players can tryout for). They can do this in addition to the regular Fall Programs at St. Mary’s
    9. Skill Skates run by TPH- Starts Aug 27th
    10. Power Skating with Power Tech every Monday – Starts Sept 10th
    11. 2 off ice sessions per week for all teams during the Fall – run by James Gonzales – Strength Coach
  14. MHSAA Season: (Winter)
    1. Tryouts November 4th and 5th
    2. Varsity Season runs from November 4Th – March 9th
    3. JV Season runs from November 4th – February 23rd
    4. JV Teams have one morning skate per week
    5. Goalie skill skate Wed Mornings
    6. Game Schedules are being made currently and will be available in September
    7. Power Skating with Power Tech every Monday – Starts Nov 11th
    8. 1 or 2 off- ice sessions per week for all teams during the Winter – run by James Gonzales – Strength Coach

  15. Orchard Lake Hockey Academy
    1. New National Level Prep Program starting at St. Mary’s in the fall of 2020.
    2. Will Play in the Midwest Prep Hockey League
    3. Details of the Program to be announced soon
  16. Communication
    1. Almost all of the information you need can be found at our website. stmaryshockey.com
    2. We use TeamSnap for Communicating from the Program to the families.
    3. You can add Parents and grandparents to your TeamSnap account if you like.
  17. High School vs Travel
    1. St. Mary’s Programs play in very competitive leagues. Comparable to Travel leagues.
    2. Varsity plays in the MIHL
    3. Both JV teams play in the MJVHL
    4. Both Leagues are highly competitive
    5. Ice times for High School Practices are convenient (3 PM – 6PM) during the week.
    6. Our High School teams are on the ice more per week than most Travel teams

Q and A Session

  1. What If I can’t be at both evaluation Skates?
    1. Attend the ones you can and we will do our best to place you based on what we see during the skate that you do attend.
  2. What if I will miss most of the Summer program?
    1. Attend the evaluation skates and let us know what you will be missing (part or all of the summer session) we will work around your schedule.
  3. Will the new Prep program mean that the Varsity and JV Programs will be gone?
    1. NO. The Varsity and JV Program will still exist. The Prep program will be separate from the Varsity and JV Programs.
