Informational Hockey Meeting Recap

- Coach Klanow introduced himself as the Varsity Coach
- Coach Mikla was introduced as the JV Red Coach along with assistant Zak Harrison
- Coach Behen was introduced as the JV White Coach along with assistant Frank Damico (absent was assistant Coach Marcus Sheena)

- Summer Evaluation Skating Dates:
- Freshman & Sophomore skates June 5th and 6th 6-7:30pm
- Junior & Senior skates June 5th 7:30-9pm
- Skates are at OLSM
- Skates are used to determine where to place you for the Summer program.
- Summer Teams and Programs
- After evaluations, Players placed on one of 3 Teams for the Summer
- Varsity Red
- Varsity White
- JV Red
- Placements are not permanent and players can be moved during the Fall season as the coaching staff feels necessary
- All 3 Teams will play in the GLSHL
- Teams in the GLSHL will play 8 Games from Mid-June to Aug 1st
- 1 Team of Varsity Players will be selected to play a tournament in Traverse City- June 21st – 23rd.
- 2 Teams of Varsity Players will be selected to play in a Tournament in Burton – July 12th -14th
- 1 or 2 off- ice sessions per week for all teams during the Summer – run by James Gonzales – Strength Coach
- Summer High Endurance Camp: http://www.highendurancehockey.org
- June 17th-Aug 9th
- 8am-10:30am Mon – Thur. No camp July 4th week
- Limited skating first week because of Testing
- Camp is in addition and separate of the GLSHL Program
- Register for the camp on the Orchardlakecamps.com site under High Endurance.
- Fall Teams and Programs
- Players will be placed on 1 of 3 teams for the Fall
- Varsity
- JV Red
- JV White
- Placements are not permanent and players can be moved during the Fall season as the coaching staff feels necessary
- Varsity will play games at Cranbrook from September thru October (12 Games)
- JV Teams will play 10-12 Games from September thru October.
- Fall Select Programs – MDHL and Top 80 (These are 2 Separate program that players can tryout for). They can do this in addition to the regular Fall Programs at St. Mary’s
- Skill Skates run by TPH- Starts Aug 27th
- Power Skating with Power Tech every Monday – Starts Sept 10th
- 2 off ice sessions per week for all teams during the Fall – run by James Gonzales – Strength Coach
- MHSAA Season: (Winter)
- Tryouts November 4th and 5th
- Varsity Season runs from November 4Th – March 9th
- JV Season runs from November 4th – February 23rd
- JV Teams have one morning skate per week
- Goalie skill skate Wed Mornings
- Game Schedules are being made currently and will be available in September
- Power Skating with Power Tech every Monday – Starts Nov 11th
- 1 or 2 off- ice sessions per week for all teams during the Winter – run by James Gonzales – Strength Coach

- New National Level Prep Program starting at St. Mary’s in the fall of 2020.

- We use TeamSnap for Communicating from the Program to the families.
- You can add Parents and grandparents to your TeamSnap account if you like.
- High School vs Travel
- St. Mary’s Programs play in very competitive leagues. Comparable to Travel leagues.
- Varsity plays in the MIHL
- Both JV teams play in the MJVHL
- Both Leagues are highly competitive
- Ice times for High School Practices are convenient (3 PM – 6PM) during the week.
- Our High School teams are on the ice more per week than most Travel teams

Q and A Session
- What If I can’t be at both evaluation Skates?
- Attend the ones you can and we will do our best to place you based on what we see during the skate that you do attend.
- What if I will miss most of the Summer program?
- Attend the evaluation skates and let us know what you will be missing (part or all of the summer session) we will work around your schedule.
- Will the new Prep program mean that the Varsity and JV Programs will be gone?
- NO. The Varsity and JV Program will still exist. The Prep program will be separate from the Varsity and JV Programs.
